I always had so much fun when Rondo drove from Superior to Virginia on his bike. He always gave a great show and made everyone enjoy their night!! Just found out today about his death. | Comments: | I used to play bass and sing in 3 popular bands that played the twin ports area: Nile, Airborne and Medallion. I live in Ashland, but for the first time in a long time, I took a trip to Duluth today on 4/14/08. I ran onto musician Ron Koivisto. I happened to ask him if Rondo is playing these days. He response was, "Rondo is dead". My jaw dropped to my ankles in disbelief! How could this be??? Rondo is (was)...immortal! I first met himn in T. Gravy. He ran sound for my band Nile a few times at the P-Club. He loved my bass playing and singing...told me I was very talented. He asked me a few times to join Gravy. I declined cuz I needed to make good money to keep my bills paid. Rondo, by sheer definition, was the ULTIMATE local Rock Star! His presence, stage show, Rock voice and guitar work were unparalleled. He had a way about him that could make anyone either smile or think "what the hell is he smiling about." Nothing would make the evenings of live music more exciting than Rondo grabbing up the guitar and kickin' ass across the bar! He brought many smiles to a lot of people!
